The jackpot for Saturday's Powerball drawing soars to $253 million

No one won Wednesday night's Powerball lottery drawing, worth $236 million, bringing the estimated grand prize on Saturday to $253 million. The cash value will be an estimated $172.7 million up for grab. The winning numbers drawn Wednesday night, May 26th, 2021 were 02, 08, 21, 34, 62 with Power Ball number 16.

While there was no grand prize winner Wednesday evening, Powerball did produce some big winners. There was only one lucky ticket correctly matched all five lotto numbers but missed Powerball number, which won the second prize. The 1 lucky ticket(s) purchased in Texas, each won 1 million dollar cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.

Also, 18 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Powerball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Other prizes won Wednesday night included 404 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $100. 100 additional players not just matched 4 white ball, but in addition chose the Power Play option, double the winnings to a total win of $200 each! Other prizes won Wednesday evening included 906 tickets that matched 3 white numbers as well as the Powerball and won $100. 258 additional tickets of this prize level were also bought with the Power Play option that doubled winnings to $200 cash.

With 9 different prize tiers, the Wednesday night's drawing created 679,177 winning tickets across the nation with a total amount of $0 prizes.

America's favorite Powerball is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings occur every Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Powerball uses a 5/69+1/26 matrix to randomly choose winning numbers. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to spend $1 extra to purchase the Power Play, which increases the prizes but not grand prize. The minimum Powerball advertised grand prize is $40,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 30 graduated installments. Winners can choose one time lump-sum cash payout instead.
