Wednesday's Powerball jackpot rises to $168 million; Three second prize tickets sold

The multi-state Powerball lottery grand prize has grew to a projected $168 million dollars after there was no grand prize winner in Saturday's drawing. The cash option will be $117 million. The numbers drawn Saturday night, May 8th, 2021 were 12-17-20-21-26 and Powerball number was 08. There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past 129 draws since Saturday, February 15th, 2020. The last jackpot was won by one lucky ticket sold in Michigan, matched all six numbers for a $70.00 million top prize.
Although there was no jackpot winner Saturday evening, some players still walked away with huge prizes. There were three lucky winners correctly matched the first 5 white ball numbers but missed Powerball number, which won the 2nd prize. The 1 ticket(s) in Iowa matched the first 5 white ball numbers with the Power Play for an incredible 2 million dollar cash win! This is part of the Powerball game feature that guarantees a certain multiplier on all match 5 white ball winners that also have the Power Play option pushing the prize to 2 million dollar cash. 2 other lucky ticket(s) sold in Maryland(1) and New York(1), each won $1 million cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers!
In addition, 26 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Powerball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. 7 additional tickets of this prize level were also wisely purchased with the Power Play option that multiplied the prize 4 times to $40,000 cash!
With 9 different prize tiers, the Saturday night's drawing generated 670,215 winning tickets across U.S. with a total amount of $0 prizes.
