No one won the jackpot last night. Powerball jackpot climbs to $142 million

With no winner in the latest draw, the Powerball lottery jackpot is going to be worth a projected $142 million (cash value $97.9 million) the next time the multistate lottery is drawn on Wednesday. The amount rolled over because nobody hit all 6 winning numbers to win the $129 million grand prize Saturday night. The winning numbers drawn Saturday night, May 1st, 2021 were 35, 36, 47, 61, 63 and Powerball was 03. The Powerball jackpot has been rolling over for 127 draws since Saturday, February 15th, 2020. A single lucky winner from Michigan won the $70.00 million grand prize in Wednesday, February 12th, 2020 drawing.
Though the jackpot was not awarded Saturday evening, some players still walked away with large winnings. A total of 10 lucky tickets won the third prize with or without Power Play option. These included 5 tickets that matched four white ball numbers as well as the Powerball and won $10,000.
In addition, 293 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $100. There were 81 tickets matched 4 white ball with Power Play option, doubled the prizes to a total win of $200 each! There were 664 tickets that matched three white ball numbers plus the Powerball and also won $100. 219 additional players not just matched 3+1, but also purchased the Power Play option, doulbled the winnings to $200 cash each ticket.
With 9 different prize tiers, the Saturday night's drawing created 625,716 winning tickets across the nation with a total amount of $0 prizes.
Powerball is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball uses a 5/69 (white balls) + 1/26 (Powerballs) matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to buy the Power Play option, which multiplies the winnings except jackpot. The overall odds of winning is about 1 to 32. The chances of matching all six Powerball numbers are 1 to 292,201,338. The minimum Powerball advertised grand prize is $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment payments. Winners can choose one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
