Powerball jackpot rolls up to $200 million Saturday; Three players won the second prize

The Powerball game jackpot has jumped up to a projected $200 million (cash option $136.5 million) for the next drawing in the multistate lottery game Saturday night. The grand prize amount has been rolled over since no one matched all five lotto numbers plus the Powerball number to take the $184 million jackpot Wednesday night. The winning numbers from Wednesday night, March 17th, 2021 were 34, 38, 42, 61, 62 with Power Ball number 19. There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past 114 draws since Saturday, February 15th, 2020. The last jackpot was won by a single ticket sold in Michigan, matched all six numbers for a $70.00 million top prize.
Though there was no grand prize winner Wednesday evening, some players still walked away with big money. There were three second prize winning tickets from Wednesday night's drawing, matching all 5 white ball numbers but not the Powerball number. The three second prize winning ticket(s) sold in Michigan(1), New York(1) and South Carolina(1) won $1,000,000 cash.
In addition, 8 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Powerball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. 3 additional tickets at this prize level were also wisely bought with the Power Play option that multiplied winnings 4 times to $40,000 cash! Additional prizes won Wednesday evening included 336 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $100. 82 additional players not just matched 4 white ball, but in addition chose the Power Play option, double the prizes to a total win of $200 each! 747 tickets matched 3 of the 5 lotto numbers, as well as the Powerball number. These tickets are also each worth $100. There were 237 tickets matched 3+1 with Power Play option, doubled the winnings to win a total win of $200 each.
With 9 prize tiers, there were a total of 644,365 tickets across the nation won $0 prizes in the Wednesday, March 17th, 2021 drawing.
America's favorite Powerball is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to pay $1 extra to buy the Power Play option, which increases the original winnings but not grand prize. The minimum Powerball jackpot is $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 graduated payments. Winners may select one time lump-sum cash payout instead.
