Monday's Powerball jackpot builds to $174,000,000; 2 second prize tickets sold

There has been another roll-over in the jackpot for the multistate Powerball game - to $174,000,000. The lump-sum cash payout will be a projected $$83.9 million. The grand prize grew because no one matched all six numbers from Saturday night's $164,000,000 drawing. The numbers drawn Saturday night, January 27th, 2024 were 07-38-65-66-68 with Power Ball number 21. There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past eleven draws since Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024. The last jackpot was won by a single ticket sold in Michigan, matched all six numbers for a 810,000,000 top prize.
Even though the grand prize was not awarded Saturday evening, some people still walked away with big money. There were 2 second prize winners from Saturday night's Powerball drawing, matching all five numbers but not the Powerball number. The two second prize winning ticket(s) sold in Kentucky(1) and New York(1) won $1,000,000 cash.
Additional prizes won Saturday evening included 13 tickets that matched four white ball numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. There were 2 tickets matched 4+1 with Power Play option, multiplying the prizes by 4 for a total win of $40,000 each! In addition, 247 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $100. There were 84 tickets matched 4 white ball with Power Play option, doubled the prizes to a total win of $200 each! 600 tickets matched 3 of the 5 lotto numbers, as well as the Powerball number. These tickets are also each worth $100. There were 180 tickets matched 3+1 with Power Play option, doubled the winnings to win a total win of $200 each.
With 9 ways to win, the Saturday night's drawing created 566,010 winning tickets across U.S. with a total amount of $0 prizes.
Powerball can be played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Powerball game uses a 5/69 (white balls) + 1/26 (Powerballs) matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Power Play option, which multiplies the prizes except grand prize. The minimum Powerball jackpot is $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment installments in 29 years. Winners can choose one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
