Monday's Powerball jackpot increases to $86,000,000; 1 ticket won the second prize

There has been another rollover in the jackpot for the multistate Powerball lottery - to $86,000,000. The cash value stands at $$38.8 million. The jackpot grew because no one matched all 6 numbers from Saturday night's $64,000,000 drawing. The winning numbers drawn Saturday night, January 3rd, 2026 were 18, 21, 40, 53, 60 with Power Ball 23.

Although the grand prize was not awarded Saturday evening, Powerball did produce some big winners. There was a sole second prize winner from Saturday night's Powerball drawing, matching the first 5 numbers except the Powerball number. The one second prize ticket(s) from TX matched all 5 white ball numbers and also chose Power Play, which doubled the prize to $2 million cash win!

Other prizes won Saturday evening included 17 tickets that matched four white ball numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. 2 additional tickets of this prize level were also wisely purchased with the Power Play option that multiplied the prize 4 times to $40,000 cash!

With 9 different prize levels, the Saturday night's drawing produced 521,721 winning tickets nationwide with a total amount of $0 prizes.

Powerball lottery can be played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings are held 2 times a week every Wednesday and Saturday at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Powerball game uses a 5/69+1/26 system from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to buy the Power Play, which multiplies the original winnings but not grand prize. The overall odds of winning any prizes is about 1 to 32. The chances of winning Powerball jackpot are about 1 in 292 million. The minimum Powerball jackpot is $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment installments. Winners can choose one lump sum cash payout instead.
