Nobody hit the jackpot. Powerball jackpot climbs to $178,000,000 Wednesday night

The jackpot for Wednesday Powerball game jumped to $178,000,000 (lump-sum cash payout $$80.7 million) after nobody hit all 5 white ball numbers and the Powerball number Monday night. The winning numbers drawn Monday night, December 30th, 2024 were 09, 19, 33, 38, 39 with Power Ball number 01. The Powerball grand prize has been growing for 10 draws since Monday, December 9th, 2024. The last jackpot was won by a lucky ticket sold in NY, matched all six numbers for a $260,000,000 top prize.
Even though the grand prize was not awarded Monday evening, some players still walked away with huge prizes. 7 3rd prize winning tickets were sold across the nation. These included 3 tickets that matched four white ball numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000.
Other prizes won Monday night included 276 tickets that matched 4 white numbers and won $100. 93 additional tickets at this prize level were also wisely purchased with the Power Play option that doubled the prize to $200 cash! 577 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, plus the Powerball number. These tickets are also each worth $100. There were 190 tickets matched 3+1 with Power Play option, doubled the prizes to win a total win of $200 each.

Powerball is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. To play Powerball, select 5 numbers from 1 to 69 then pick one Powerball number from a set of 26. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to buy the Power Play option, which increases the prizes except grand prize. The odds of winning is about 1 to 32. The odds of matching all six Powerball numbers are about 1 in 292 million. The minimum Powerball jackpot is 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment payments. Winners can select one lump sum cash payout instead.
