No jackpot ticket sold. Friday's Mega Millions jackpot increases to $474,000,000

The jackpot in the Mega Millions multi-state lottery game has been increased to $474,000,000. The cash option will be an estimated $$219.4 million. The prize amount was rolled over since no one matched all six numbers in Tuesday's $451,000,000 drawing. The next Mega Millions game drawing is Friday night. The winning numbers from Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025 drawing were 13-24-41-42-70 with Mega Ball 18 and Megaplier X.
While there was no grand prize winner Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with huge pile of cash. There were a total of 4 3rd prize lucky winners. These included 4 tickets that matched four white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Additional prizes won Tuesday night included 169 tickets that matched four white numbers and won $500. 505 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With nine prize tiers, there were 637,958 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium of 44 state lotteries. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players through prize winnings. Approximately 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. Around 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The overall chances of winning any prizes is about 1 to 14. The odds of winning Mega Millions jackpot are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot is $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly payments. Winners may select one time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
Compared with other Mega Millions participants, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, as opposed to non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This causes different prize amounts for equivalent winning tickets sold in California when compared to those sold in other 43 lotteries. One example is, the second Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery doesn't have Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
