No jackpot winning ticket sold. Friday's Mega Millions jackpot moves to $47,000,000

Without a grand prize winner in the last drawing, the Mega Millions multistate lottery game has carried over its grand prize to $47,000,000 for Friday night's drawing. The lump-sum cash payout stands at $$23.9 million. Nobody hit all six winning numbers to win the $31,000,000 grand prize Tuesday. The next Mega Millions drawing will be at 10:59 PM Friday night. The numbers drawn Tuesday night, September 17th, 2024 were 14, 31, 48, 57, 64 with Mega Ball number 09 and Megaplier X3.
Even though the grand prize was not hit Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. 6 third prize winning tickets were sold nationwide. These included 6 tickets that matched 4 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Additional prizes won Tuesday evening included 161 tickets that matched four white ball numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 475 tickets that matched 3 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $200.
With nine prize tiers, there were a total of 863,368 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, September 17th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is played in 43 states and D.C. It holds the record highest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. The odds of winning is about 1 to 14. The chances of winning Mega Millions grand prize are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot is 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners may select one-time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
Not like other Mega Millions participants, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a set value. This results in different amounts of prize for equivalent winners sold in California when compared to those sold in other Mega Millions states. By way of example, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
