No one hit the jackpot last night. Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot climbs to $205,000,000

With no winner in the latest drawing, the Mega Millions lottery jackpot will be worth an estimated $205,000,000 (cash option $$97.5 million) the next time the multistate lottery is drawn on Tuesday. The amount rolled over because no player matched all five white ball numbers and the Mega Ball number to win the $185,000,000 grand prize Friday night. The numbers drawn Friday night, October 18th, 2024 were 04-09-26-39-58 and the Mega Ball was 23, Megaplier was 4.
While the jackpot was not hit Friday evening, some players still walked away with huge pile of cash. There were a total of 11 3rd prize winners. Among them, 11 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000.
Other prizes won Friday evening included 249 tickets that matched 4 white numbers and won $500. There were 618 tickets that correctly matched 3 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With nine prize levels, there were 461,179 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, October 18th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium associated with 44 state lotteries. It holds the record biggest jackpot in United States lottery history. Around 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back towards the players through prizes. Roughly 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. Approximately 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating states. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners may choose one lump-sum cash payout option instead.
Contrary to other Mega Millions states, all the 9 prize tiers of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, as opposed to non-jackpot prize having a set value. This leads to different prize amounts for equivalent winners sold in California when compared to those sold in other 43 Mega Millions states. As an example, the second Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery does not offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
