Friday's Mega Millions jackpot moves to $185,000,000; 1 player matched the first five numbers

There was no ticket sold hit all six numbers in the latest multi-state Mega Millions draw, and the estimated jackpot for Friday's drawing will grow to $185,000,000, lottery officials announced. The lump-sum cash payout will be $$88.4 million. The numbers from Tuesday, October 15th, 2024 drawing were 22, 34, 44, 54, 62 with Mega Ball 03 and Megaplier x3. Nobody won the Mega Millions grand prize in the past 10 draws since Friday, September 13th, 2024.One lucky player from TX walked away with $800 million top prize in Tuesday, September 10th, 2024 drawing.
Although there was no grand prize winner Tuesday evening, Mega Millions had some big winners. There was a single lucky player that correctly matched the first 5 numbers and won the 2nd prize. The 1 second prize winning ticket(s) bought in MD will collect $1,000,000 cash each.
Additional prizes won Tuesday evening included 13 tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Also, 226 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 623 tickets that matched 3 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $200.
With nine prize tiers, there were 980,128 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, October 15th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions lottery is played in 43 states and Washington DC. It holds the record largest jackpot in United States lottery history. Roughly 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players in prize winnings. About 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. Around 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original prizes 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners can select one time lump-sum cash payout instead.
Unlike other Mega Millions participants, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, rather than non-jackpot prize having a fixed value. This leads to different prize amounts for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other forty three lotteries. Such as, the second Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
