Huge Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs Friday night

The Mega Millions multi-state lottery grand prize moved to $453,000,000 (lump-sum cash payout $$209.6 million) Friday night when there were no jackpot winning tickets in the $420,000,000 drawing, lottery officials said. The numbers from Tuesday, November 19th, 2024 drawing were 05, 35, 50, 51, 59 and the Mega Ball was 08, Megaplier was 4.
Though there was no jackpot winner Tuesday evening, Mega Millions had some big winners. There were 2 2nd prize winners from Tuesday night's drawing, matching all 5 white ball numbers except the Mega Ball number. The 2 lucky ticket(s) purchased in PA,TX, each won $1,000,000 cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Other prizes won Tuesday evening included 12 tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Also, 319 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. 977 tickets matched 3 of the 5 lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With nine ways to win, there were 1,512,550 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, November 19th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. It holds the record largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. Mega Millions uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) system from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times except jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot is $40,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners may choose one-time lump sum cash payout instead.
Contrary to other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, rather than non-jackpot prize having a fixed value. This leads to different amounts of prize for equivalent winning tickets sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other forty three jurisdictons. Such as, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery doesn't offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
