Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot rises to $420,000,000; Two second prize tickets sold

The Mega Millions grand prize has jumped up to a projected $420,000,000 (cash option $$191.7 million) for the next drawing in the multistate lottery game Tuesday night. The jackpot amount has been rolled over because no player matched all 6 numbers to take the $387,000,000 jackpot Friday night. The winning numbers from Friday, November 15th, 2024 drawing were 05, 17, 35, 55, 69 with Mega Ball 19 and Megaplier x2.
Even though there was no grand prize winner Friday evening, some people still walked away with huge prizes. There were two lucky winners matched all 5 lotto numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the 2nd prize. The two second prize winning ticket(s) sold in MO,NY will collect $1,000,000 cash each.
Additional major winners Friday evening included 17 tickets that matched four white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Additional winners Friday night included 369 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $500. There were 904 tickets that correctly matched three white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With 9 prize levels, there were a total of 1,390,148 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Friday, November 15th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium of 44 state lotteries. It holds the record biggest jackpot in North American lottery history. On average, 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players in prizes. About 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. Around 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the member lottery states. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Mega Millions lottery uses a 5/70+1/25 system from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay $1 extra to purchase the Megaplier, which multiplies the original prizes 2 to 5 times except jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot starts at $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners may select one time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
Not like other Mega Millions states, all the 9 prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a fixed value. This results in different prize amounts for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other 43 Mega Millions states. Such as, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery doesn't offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
