The Mega Millions game grand prize is on the move again. The jackpot for the Tuesday, May 14th, 2024 drawing rolls up to $363,000,000 with the lump-sum cash payout at $$166.9 million. The numbers from Friday night, May 10th, 2024 were 13-22-26-32-65 with Mega Ball number 18 and Megaplier 4.
Even though the jackpot was not awarded Friday evening, some people still walked away with huge prizes. A total of 16 lucky winners won the third prize. These included 16 tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Also, 323 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. 902 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With nine different prize levels, there were 1,441,044 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Friday, May 10th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is an U.S. popular lottery game offered in 44 member states as a shared jackpot game. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players in prizes. About 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. About 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member states. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot is $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners may select one time lump-sum cash payout instead.
Unlike other Mega Millions participants, all the 9 prize levels of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, as opposed to non-jackpot prize having a set value. This leads to different amounts of prize for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other 43 Mega Millions states. Such as, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
