Enormous Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs Friday night

The Mega Millions jackpot increased since no player hit all 5 lotto numbers and the Mega Ball number from Tuesday night's $306,000,000 drawing. The next grand prize jumped to $331,000,000 for Friday night's drawing. The cash option stands at an estimated $$153.1 million. The winning numbers drawn Tuesday night, May 7th, 2024 were 26-28-36-63-66 and the Mega Ball was 15, Megaplier was 3.
While there was no grand prize winner Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were three lucky winners correctly matched the first five lotto numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the 2nd prize. The three lucky ticket(s) bought in AZ,CA,FL, each won one million dollar cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Other prizes won Tuesday evening included 10 tickets that matched 4 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Also, 297 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. 819 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.

Mega Millions lottery can be played in 43 states and Washington DC. It holds the record highest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. Around 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players in prize winnings. Around 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. In some states, players can choose to pay $1 extra to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times except jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is 40 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly payments. Winners can choose one lump-sum cash payout instead.
Compared with other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, as opposed to non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This results in different prize amounts for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other states. As an example, the second Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
