Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot leaps to $80,000,000; 1 second prize ticket sold

The Mega Millions lottery jackpot is on the move again. The jackpot for the Tuesday, March 31st, 2026 drawing leaps to $80,000,000 with the cash value of $$35.6 million. The numbers from Friday, March 27th, 2026 drawing were 13, 27, 28, 41, 62 and the Mega Ball was 16, Megaplier was .
While the jackpot was not hit Friday evening, Mega Millions had some big winners. There was only one lucky winner matched the first 5 numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the second prize. The 1 second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in will collect $1,000,000 cash each.
Other prizes won Friday evening included 6 tickets that matched 4 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Additional winners Friday evening included 93 tickets that matched four white ball numbers and won $500. 260 tickets matched 3 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With nine prize levels, there were 308,200 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Friday, March 27th, 2026 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. Around 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players through prize winnings. About 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. Roughly 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix to randomly choose winning numbers. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is $40,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners may select one lump-sum cash payout instead.
Not like other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, rather than non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This causes different prize amounts for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other 43 lotteries. For instance, the second Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
