No ticket matched all six numbers. Huge Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs Tuesday night

The grand prize in the Mega Millions multistate lottery game continues moving up and is going to be up to $301,000,000 for the next drawing on Tuesday. The cash value stands at an estimated $$139.5 million up for grab. The amount was rolled over since no one hit all six winning numbers to win the $277,000,000 grand prize Friday night. The numbers from Friday, March 14th, 2025 drawing were 03, 17, 39, 42, 70 with Mega Ball number 01 and Megaplier 3.
Even though the grand prize was not awarded Friday evening, some people still walked away with huge pile of cash. 6 3rd prize winning tickets were sold across the U.S.. Among them, 6 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000.
In addition, 256 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 627 tickets that matched 3 white numbers together with Mega Ball and won $200.
With 9 different prize levels, there were 1,010,352 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, March 14th, 2025 drawing.
Mega Millions is one of the most popular lottery games in the U.S. sold in 44 lottery jurisdictions as a shared jackpot game. It holds the record biggest jackpot of $656 million in U.S. lottery history. Around 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players through prizes. Around 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. Approximately 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions drawings are held 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. To play, select 5 numbers from 1 to 70 and select 1 Mega Ball number from a set of 25. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times except jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners can select one-time lump sum cash payout instead.
As opposed to other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a fixed value. This results in different prize amounts for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other lotteries. For example, the second Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery doesn't offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
