Big Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs Friday night

Without a jackpot winner in the latest drawing, the Mega Millions multistate lottery game has rolled over its grand prize to $792,000,000 for Friday night's drawing. The cash value stands at $$381.8 million. No player matched all five white ball numbers and the Mega Ball number to win the $735,000,000 grand prize Tuesday. The next Mega Millions game drawing will be at 10:59 PM Friday night. The numbers from Tuesday night, March 12th, 2024 were 02-16-31-57-64 and the Mega Ball was 24, Megaplier was 3.
While there was no jackpot winner Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with huge prizes. There were two second prize winning tickets from Tuesday night's drawing, matching all 5 white ball numbers except the Mega Ball number. The two lucky ticket(s) sold in MA,NC, each won $1,000,000 cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
In addition, 27 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Additional prizes won Tuesday night included 684 tickets that matched 4 white numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 1767 tickets that matched 3 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $200.

Mega Millions is an U.S. popular lottery game sold in 44 lottery jurisdictions as a pari-mutuel jackpot game. It holds the record biggest jackpot of $656 million in U.S. lottery history. On average, 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players in prize winnings. Around 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot is 40 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners may select one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
Not like other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, as opposed to non-jackpot prize having a fixed value. This results in different amounts of prize for equivalent winners sold in California when compared to those sold in other Mega Millions states. Such as, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery does not offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
