Huge Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs Friday night

With no winner in the latest draw, the Mega Millions game grand prize is going to be worth a projected $277,000,000 (lump-sum cash payout $$129.5 million) the next time the multistate lottery is played on Friday. The amount carried over because no one hit all five white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball number to win the $256,000,000 jackpot Tuesday night. The numbers from Tuesday, March 11th, 2025 drawing were 01-19-26-38-69 and the Mega Ball was 15, Megaplier was 3. The Mega Millions grand prize has been rolling over for 15 draws since Tuesday, January 21st, 2025.The last jackpot was won by a lucky ticket sold in AZ, matched all six numbers for a $0 million top prize.
While there was no jackpot winner Tuesday evening, some people still walked away with large winnings. There was only one lucky winner matched the first five lotto numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the second prize. The one second prize winning ticket(s) sold in CA will collect $1,000,000 cash each.
Also, 11 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Additional winners Tuesday evening included 256 tickets that matched four lotto numbers and won $500. 650 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With nine different prize tiers, there were a total of 1,026,666 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Tuesday, March 11th, 2025 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Mega Millions uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix to randomly pick winning numbers. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times except jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize is 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners may choose one lump sum cash payout option instead.
Contrary to other Mega Millions participants, all the nine prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, rather than non-jackpot prize having a fixed value. This causes different amounts of prize for equivalent winning tickets sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other forty three Mega Millions states. One example is, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery doesn't offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
