Mega Millions jackpot jumps to $302,000,000 Friday night; 1 player won the second prize

The multi-state Mega Millions grand prize has climbed to an estimated $302,000,000 dollars after there was no grand prize winner in Tuesday's drawing. The lump-sum cash payout will be an estimated $$136 million up for grab. The winning numbers from Tuesday, June 17th, 2025 drawing were 16-23-39-46-55 with Mega Ball number 12 and Megaplier x. The Mega Millions jackpot has been rolling over for 24 draws since Friday, March 28th, 2025.A single lucky player from IL won the $344 million top prize in Tuesday, March 25th, 2025 drawing.
Although the grand prize was not hit Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There was a sole lucky ticket correctly matched all five numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the second prize. The 1 lucky ticket(s) bought in CO, each won one million dollar cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
In addition, 7 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Additional winners Tuesday night included 180 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $500. There were 446 tickets that correctly matched three white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With nine different ways to win, there were a total of 574,830 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Tuesday, June 17th, 2025 drawing.
Mega Millions lottery can be played in 43 states and D.C. It holds the record largest jackpot in North American lottery history. Roughly 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players in prizes. Approximately 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. About 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot is $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners can select one lump sum cash payout option instead.
Compared with other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, rather than non-jackpot prize having a fixed amount. This results in different amounts of prize for equivalent winning tickets sold in California when compared to those sold in other 43 lotteries. Such as, the second Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery does not offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
