No one won the jackpot. Mega Millions jackpot goes to $243,000,000 Tuesday

The jackpot in the multi-state Mega Millions drawing rised to $243,000,000 for the Tuesday drawing. The cash option stands at an estimated $$108 million. No ticket sold for Friday's $223,000,000 drawing matched 5 lotto numbers and the Mega Ball number. The numbers drawn Friday night, June 6th, 2025 were 16-40-54-56-57 with Mega Ball 03 and Megaplier X. The Mega Millions grand prize has been rolling over for 21 draws since Friday, March 28th, 2025.The last jackpot was won by a lucky ticket sold in IL, matched all six numbers for a $344 million top prize.
Even though the jackpot was not awarded Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. 10 3rd prize winning tickets were sold across the nation. These included 10 tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
In addition, 142 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. There were 402 tickets that matched 3 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With 9 different ways to win, there were a total of 553,794 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Friday, June 6th, 2025 drawing.
Mega Millions lottery is played in 43 states and Washington DC. Around 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players in prize winnings. Roughly 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operation expenses. About 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions game uses a 5/70+1/25 system to randomly pick winning numbers. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay $1 extra to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times except jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot starts at $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners may select one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
Unlike other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This results in different prize amounts for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other lotteries. Such as, the second Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
