Massive Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs Tuesday night

The Mega Millions game grand prize is on the move again. The jackpot for the Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 drawing will be $331,000,000 with the cash option of $$156.2 million. The winning numbers from Friday, July 26th, 2024 drawing were 02-14-33-58-65 and the Mega Ball was 03, Megaplier was 3. There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past 15 draws since Friday, June 7th, 2024.The last jackpot was won by one lucky ticket sold in IL, matched all six numbers for a $560 million top prize.
Although there was no jackpot winner Friday evening, Mega Millions had some huge winners. There were three lucky tickets correctly matched all 5 numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the 2nd prize. The three second prize winning ticket(s) bought in CA,IL,NJ will collect $1,000,000 cash each.
Other prizes won Friday night included 12 tickets that matched 4 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $10,000. In addition, 339 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. There were 845 tickets that matched 3 white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With nine different prize levels, there were a total of 1,447,926 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Friday, July 26th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is an U.S. popular lottery game offered in 44 member states as a pari-mutuel jackpot game. It holds the record biggest jackpot of $656 million in U.S. lottery history. On average, 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players in prizes. Roughly 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operation expenses. Around 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. To play Mega Millions, select 5 numbers from 1 to 70 and pick one Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay $1 extra to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times except grand prize. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize is $40,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners can select one time lump-sum cash payout instead.
Contrary to other Mega Millions participants, all the nine prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, rather than non-jackpot prize having a fixed amount. This leads to different amounts of prize for equivalent winning tickets sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other lotteries. By way of example, the second Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery does not offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
