There were no Mega Millions game grand prize winners for Tuesday's $226,000,000 dollar drawing, so the grand prize will rise to $251,000,000 with the cash option at a projected $$118.7 million Friday, July 19th, 2024. The winning numbers drawn Tuesday night, July 16th, 2024 were 05, 35, 42, 58, 66 with Mega Ball number 22 and Megaplier 2. The Mega Millions jackpot has been growing for 12 draws since Friday, June 7th, 2024.A single lucky winner from IL walked away with $560 million jackpot in Tuesday, June 4th, 2024 drawing.
While the jackpot was not awarded Tuesday evening, some people still walked away with big money. 9 third prize winning tickets were sold nationwide. These included 9 tickets that matched 4 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Other winners Tuesday evening included 270 tickets that matched four white ball numbers and won $500. 764 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.

Mega Millions lottery is played in 43 states and D.C. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back towards the players through prize winnings. Approximately 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The overall chances of winning is about 1 to 14. The chances of matching all six Mega Millions numbers are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize starts at $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners may choose one lump sum cash payout option instead.
Compared with other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a fixed value. This results in different amounts of prize for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other forty three jurisdictons. For example, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery does not offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
