No jackpot winning ticket sold last night. Mega Millions jackpot breaks to $117 million Friday, July 16th, 2021

Wall Street is not the only place where fortunes are made and lost these days. One fortune is going to be up for grabs on Friday, when Mega Millions game has $117 million on the line. The lump-sum cash payout stands at $83.6 million up for grab. Mega Millions' jackpot rose since no one hit all 5 lotto numbers plus the Mega Ball number drawn Tuesday night. The numbers from Tuesday, July 13th, 2021 drawing were 03-10-17-26-55 and the Mega Ball was 24, Megaplier was 2. There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past 807 draws since Friday, October 4th, 2013.The last jackpot was won by a single ticket sold in Maryland, matched all six numbers for a $189 million top prize.
While there was no grand prize winner Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. 10 3rd prize winning tickets were sold nationwide. These included 10 tickets that matched four white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
In addition, 487 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. There were 880 tickets that correctly matched three white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With 9 prize levels, there were a total of 1,053,842 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Tuesday, July 13th, 2021 drawing.
Mega Millions is played in 43 states and D.C. It holds the record highest jackpot of $656 million in United States lottery history. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times except grand prize. The overall odds of winning is about 1 to 14. The odds of matching 6 Mega Millions numbers are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is $40 million. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners can select one time lump sum cash payout option instead.
Contrary to other Mega Millions participants, all the nine prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, as opposed to non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This leads to different prize amounts for equivalent winning tickets sold in California when compared to those sold in other forty three states. One example is, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
