Nobody won the jackpot last night. Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot goes to $77,000,000

The Mega Millions multi-state lottery jackpot leaped to $77,000,000 (cash option $$34.8 million) Tuesday night when there were no top prize winners in the $59,000,000 drawing, lottery officials said. The numbers drawn Friday night, January 31st, 2025 were 09-28-48-56-63 and the Mega Ball was 02, Megaplier was 2.
Though there was no jackpot winner Friday evening, some people still walked away with huge prizes. 5 third prize winning tickets were sold across the nation. These included 5 tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Additional winners Friday evening included 174 tickets that matched four white ball numbers and won $500. 435 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With 9 different prize levels, there were a total of 776,296 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Friday, January 31st, 2025 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium associated with 44 state lotteries. It holds the record highest jackpot in North American lottery history. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players through prize winnings. Around 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. Approximately 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member lottery states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize starts at 40 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners may select one-time lump sum cash payout instead.
Not like other Mega Millions participants, all the 9 prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a fixed amount. This results in different amounts of prize for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other forty three jurisdictons. For example, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery doesn't have Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
