The jackpot for Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing soars to $800,000,000

The grand prize in America's favorite Mega Millions lottery is on the move. Because no one correctly matched all 5 lotto numbers plus the Mega Millions number in Friday's drawing, the grand prize will leap to $800,000,000! The lump-sum cash payout stands at an estimated $$344.2 million. The winning numbers from Friday, July 24th, 2026 drawing were 02-05-42-44-60 with Mega Ball number 01 and Megaplier x. The Mega Millions grand prize has been growing for 139 draws since Friday, March 28th, 2025.The last jackpot was won by a single ticket sold in IL, matched all six numbers for a $344 million top prize.
While the jackpot was not hit Friday evening, some people still walked away with huge prizes. 13 third prize winning tickets were sold across the U.S.. These included 13 tickets that matched 4 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Additional prizes won Friday evening included 272 tickets that matched four lotto numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 789 tickets that matched 3 white numbers together with Mega Ball and won $200.
With nine prize levels, there were a total of 1,000,514 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, July 24th, 2026 drawing.
Mega Millions lottery is played in 43 states and Washington DC. It holds the record largest jackpot of $656 million in North American lottery history. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players in prize winnings. Around 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. Around 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. Contrary to other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, as opposed to non-jackpot prize having a set value. This leads to different prize amounts for equivalent winning tickets sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other forty three states. By way of example, the second Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery doesn't offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
