Friday's Mega Millions grand prize will be worth an estimated $285,000,000 (cash value $$135.1 million), since no one hit all 6 numbers in Tuesday night's drawing. The numbers from Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024 drawing were 21-28-58-69-70 with Mega Ball number 20 and Megaplier x2.
Even though the jackpot was not awarded Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were a total of 13 3rd prize winning tickets. These included 13 tickets that matched four white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
In addition, 280 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 661 tickets that matched 3 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $200.
With 9 different prize tiers, there were a total of 1,036,152 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is played in 43 states and Washington DC. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize starts at 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners can select one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
Contrary to other Mega Millions participants, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This leads to different prize amounts for equivalent winners sold in California when compared to those sold in other jurisdictons. One example is, the second Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery doesn't have Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
