The jackpot for Friday's Mega Millions drawing soars to $266,000,000

The jackpot for Friday Mega Millions climbed to $266,000,000 (cash option $$120.8 million) after no player hit all 5 lotto numbers and the Mega Ball number Tuesday night. The numbers drawn Tuesday night, January 20th, 2026 were 08, 47, 50, 56, 70 with Mega Ball number 12 and Megaplier . The Mega Millions grand prize has been growing for 86 draws since Friday, March 28th, 2025.A single lucky winner from IL walked away with $344 million grand prize in Tuesday, March 25th, 2025 drawing.
Though there was no grand prize winner Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with huge pile of cash. A total of 5 lucky tickets won the 3rd prize. These included 5 tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Also, 125 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. 380 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.

Mega Millions is played in 43 states and D.C. To play, choose 5 numbers from 1 to 70 then pick 1 Mega Ball number from a set of 25. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the original prizes 2 to 5 times except grand prize. The chances of winning is about 1 to 14. The odds of matching all six Mega Millions numbers are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize is $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. As opposed to other Mega Millions states, all the 9 prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This causes different amounts of prize for equivalent winners sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other 43 lotteries.
