Mega Millions jackpot climbs to $77,000,000; 1 second prize ticket sold

Friday's Mega Millions lottery jackpot increased to $77,000,000, because no ticket matched all 6 numbers drawn Tuesday night. The cash option for Friday will be a projected $$34.1 million. Tuesday's $62,000,000 is the total payout - before taxes - if the prize is taken in annual installments. The numbers drawn Tuesday night, January 7th, 2025 were 20, 24, 33, 39, 48 with Mega Ball number 18 and Megaplier x2.
Although the jackpot was not awarded Tuesday evening, Mega Millions had some huge winners. There was only one second prize winner from Tuesday night's drawing, matching all five lotto numbers but not the Mega Ball number. The 1 lucky ticket(s) sold in MI, each won one million dollar cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
In addition, 7 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Mega Millions lottery is played in 43 states and Washington DC. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. To play Mega Millions, pick 5 numbers from 1 to 70 then pick 1 Mega Ball number from a set of 25. Each play costs $1.
