The jackpot for Friday's Mega Millions drawing skyrockets to $607,000,000

Tuesday night's Mega Millions drawing has yielded no jackpot winner for the $563,000,000 grand prize. With no player hit all 5 lotto numbers and the Mega Ball number in Mega Millions game , Friday night's drawing is going to be worth $607,000,000 for a single winner. The cash option stands at an estimated $$286.9 million up for grab. The winning numbers drawn Tuesday night, February 27th, 2024 were 06, 18, 26, 27, 49 with Mega Ball 04 and Megaplier X3.
Though the grand prize was not awarded Tuesday evening, Mega Millions had some big winners. There was only one second prize winner from Tuesday night's drawing, matching all 5 numbers except the Mega Ball number. The 1 second prize winning ticket(s) sold in FL will collect $1,000,000 cash each.
Other prizes won Tuesday evening included 21 tickets that matched 4 white numbers together with Mega Ball and won $10,000. Also, 518 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 1566 tickets that matched 3 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $200.
With 9 different prize tiers, there were a total of 2,035,674 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is an U.S. popular lottery game offered in 44 lottery jurisdictions as a pari-mutuel jackpot game. It holds the record biggest jackpot of $656 million in U.S. lottery history. On average, 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players in prizes. Roughly 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. Approximately 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating states. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Mega Millions uses a 5/70+1/25 system from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the original prizes 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The chances of winning any prizes is about 1 to 14. The odds of winning Mega Millions grand prize are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners may choose one-time lump sum cash payout instead.
As opposed to other Mega Millions states, all the 9 prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, rather than non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This causes different prize amounts for equivalent winners sold in California when compared to those sold in other states. For instance, the second Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
