No one matched all six numbers last night. Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot leaps to $22 million

The Mega Millions jackpot is on the move again. The grand prize for the Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021 drawing moves to $22 million with the cash option at $15.6 million. The winning numbers from Friday, February 19th, 2021 drawing were 27, 32, 47, 50, 53 with Mega Ball 04 and Megaplier X4.
Even though the grand prize was not hit Friday evening, some players still walked away with big money. 4 3rd prize winning tickets were sold across the U.S.. Among them, 4 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000.
Other prizes won Friday evening included 220 tickets that matched four white ball numbers and won $500. There were 620 tickets that matched 3 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With 9 prize tiers, there were 1,027,798 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, February 19th, 2021 drawing.
Mega Millions is played in 43 states and D.C. It holds the record largest jackpot of $656 million in United States lottery history. Around 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players through prize winnings. Approximately 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. Roughly 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the member states. Mega Millions drawings are held 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Mega Millions lottery uses a 5/70+1/25 matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners can choose one-time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
Compared with other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a set amount. This results in different amounts of prize for equivalent winning tickets sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other 43 Mega Millions states. As an example, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery doesn't offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
