The jackpot for Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing soars to $493,000,000

There were no tickets sold with all five white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball number in the last multi-state Mega Millions game draw, and the estimated jackpot for Tuesday's drawing will grow to $493,000,000, according to lottery officials. The lump-sum cash payout stands at an estimated $$231.1 million. The numbers from Friday, February 16th, 2024 drawing were 19, 23, 39, 42, 67 with Mega Ball number 18 and Megaplier 4. There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past 20 draws since Tuesday, December 12th, 2023. 2 lucky winners from CA(2) won the jackpot in Friday, December 8th, 2023 drawing and shared $395 million.
Though there was no jackpot winner Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. 16 third prize winning tickets were sold across the nation. These included 16 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Also, 417 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. 993 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With 9 prize tiers, there were a total of 1,593,726 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Friday, February 16th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium associated with 44 state lotteries. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the original prizes 2 to 5 times except jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot starts at $40,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners can choose one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
Unlike other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, as opposed to non-jackpot prize having a fixed amount. This results in different prize amounts for equivalent winning tickets sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other 43 lotteries. For instance, the second Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, California state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
