Enormous Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs Tuesday night

No one won Friday night's Mega Millions drawing, worth $198,000,000, bringing the projected jackpot on Tuesday to $216,000,000. The cash option will be an estimated $$97 million. The numbers from Friday, August 15th, 2025 drawing were 04, 17, 27, 34, 69 with Mega Ball number 16 and Megaplier x. No one won the Mega Millions grand prize in the past 41 draws since Friday, March 28th, 2025.One lucky winner from IL walked away with $344 million jackpot in Tuesday, March 25th, 2025 drawing.
Although there was no grand prize winner Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were 2 lucky players that matched the first 5 lotto numbers and won the second prize. The 2 lucky ticket(s) sold in NY(2), each won $1,000,000 cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Additional major winners Friday night included 4 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Additional prizes won Friday night included 155 tickets that matched four lotto numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 350 tickets that matched 3 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $200.

Mega Millions game can be played in 43 states and D.C. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players through prizes. About 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. Around 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Megaplier, which multiplies the original winnings 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The chances of winning any prizes is about 1 to 14. The odds of winning Mega Millions grand prize are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot starts at 40 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners may choose one lump sum cash payout option instead.
Contrary to other Mega Millions participants, all the nine prize tiers of California Mega Millions are parimutuel, instead of non-jackpot prize having a fixed amount. This results in different prize amounts for equivalent winning tickets sold in California when compared to those sold in other 43 Mega Millions states. For instance, the second Mega Millions prizes is a million dollar could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery does not offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
