The grand prize in the multi-state Mega Millions drawing climbed to $140,000,000 for the Tuesday drawing. The cash value stands at a projected $$62.8 million. No ticket sold for Friday's $130,000,000 drawing hit six numbers. The numbers from Friday night, April 17th, 2026 were 38-43-44-49-62 with Mega Ball number 08 and Megaplier . The Mega Millions jackpot has been rolling over for 111 draws since Friday, March 28th, 2025.The last jackpot was won by one lucky ticket sold in IL, matched all six numbers for a $344 million top prize.
Although the grand prize was not awarded Friday evening, some people still walked away with big money. There were a total of 5 3rd prize winners. These included 5 tickets that matched 4 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000.
Other prizes won Friday evening included 99 tickets that matched 4 lotto numbers and won $500. 300 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With 9 prize tiers, there were 427,122 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, April 17th, 2026 drawing.
Mega Millions is played in 43 states and Washington DC. It holds the record largest jackpot of $656 million in United States lottery history. The overall chances of winning any prizes is about 1 to 14. The odds of matching 6 Mega Millions numbers are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot starts at 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners may select one time lump sum cash payout option instead.
Compared with other Mega Millions states, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, as opposed to non-jackpot prize having a fixed value. This results in different amounts of prize for equivalent winning tickets sold in the state of California when compared to those sold in other 43 Mega Millions states. As an example, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner more than a million dollar due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery does not have Megaplier like other Mega Millions states.
