No one won the jackpot last night. Mega Millions jackpot rises to $178,000,000

Without a grand prize winner in the last drawing, the Mega Millions multistate lottery game has rolled over its grand prize to $178,000,000 for Friday night's drawing. The cash option stands at a projected $$79.6 million. Nobody matched all 5 lotto numbers and the Mega Ball number to win the $148,000,000 jackpot Tuesday. The next Mega Millions drawing is going to be at 10:59 PM Friday night. The winning numbers from Tuesday, April 16th, 2024 drawing were 21, 26, 36, 44, 59 with Mega Ball 02 and Megaplier x4.
While there was no grand prize winner Tuesday evening, some people still walked away with large winnings. 12 3rd prize winning tickets were sold nationwide. These included 12 tickets that matched 4 white numbers together with Mega Ball and won $10,000.
In addition, 277 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. Other prizes won included 756 tickets that matched 3 white numbers together with Mega Ball and won $200.

Mega Millions is an U.S. popular lottery game sold in 44 participating states as a shared jackpot game. It holds the record largest jackpot of $656 million in U.S. lottery history. Mega Millions game uses a 5/70+1/25 matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. The overall chances of winning is about 1 to 14. The odds of matching 6 Mega Millions numbers are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is 40 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners may select one time lump sum cash payout instead.
Not like other Mega Millions participants, all the nine prize levels of California Mega Millions are pari-mutuel, rather than non-jackpot prize having a fixed amount. This causes different amounts of prize for equivalent winners sold in California when compared to those sold in other forty three jurisdictons. For example, the 2nd Mega Millions prizes is $1,000,000 could pay the winner over $1000,000 due to the pari-mutuel payout system of California lottery. For the same reason, CA state lottery does not offer Megaplier like other Mega Millions participants.
